After a mistake on meeting room and much shuffling of chairs, the meeting was called to order by President Kathleen Doell with 30 members and guests attending.
The Treasurer’s Report was presented by Treasurer Margaret McMaster. Recording Secretary Sue Webster had some printed copies of last month’s meeting minutes for those who did not receive them via e-mail. The minutes were accepted as presented.
Corresponding Secretary Diane Johanson passed out new membership lists and asked everyone to please check that their information is correct and notify her of changes needed.
Deborah Mistark passed around a sign-up sheet for menu contributions for our holiday luncheon/meeting to be held on December 13 at Harris Lodge, Route 441 in Penfield. This is always a great event and family members are invited to attend. Please phone Deborah at ###-#### or e-mail her at [Check e-mail] with your “dish to pass” offering if you did not get a chance to sign up.
In September 2009 our society will be hosting the Northeast Atlantic Conference Dahlia Show. Plans need to be put in motion this winter. We will be discussing this at the December meeting.
President Kathleen Doell announced that we have a new judge in our society, Jaye Schutz. Congratulations to her. We also have 3 judging candidates ready to take their tests to become judges and at least two others who just need 1 or more shows to be ready. We should be in good shape for our big show in 2009.
Program for the day: Dahlia winter storage. Several members discussed their varying methods and the media they use to store their dahlias. Then three stations were set up so that members could see the various methods of fall cutting – and could also have a couple of tubers to take home to try their luck.
Many thanks to Ruth Welker for goodies and Mary Feasel for beverages, enjoyed by all. Also thanks to Liz Dalberth and Diane Johanson for bringing their handy-dandy vacuums so that the room was spotless when we left.
